Practice Group Leader: Elsa A. Ben-Shimon
We at Duval & Stachenfeld have become believers in the view that the technology changes sweeping the rest of the industrialized world are going to have a significant and perhaps dramatic impact on the real estate world.
The Real Estate Technology Practice (a/k/a D&S Dirt Tech) has been created to focus on the burgeoning real estate technology space and its players. This will include real estate technology companies and real estate owners, tenants, investors and lenders who are impacted by real estate technology.
The goal of the Dirt Tech group is to provide strategic, economic and legal advice as follows:
Provide general legal advice to real estate technology companies, including start-ups as well as well-established companies;
Provide legal advice on investments, joint ventures and similar arrangements between real estate technology companies and real estate companies;
Generally help real estate technology players get started, including, for select parties, the ability to have office space in our Hedgehog Array (incubation space) at 555 Madison Avenue;
Assist our real estate clients in making them aware of technological changes to the real estate world so that these clients can benefit from these changes; and
Finally, assist both real estate companies and real estate technology companies by arranging for connections between them that are mutually beneficial.
This practice is very consistent with our mission statement of “helping our clients grow their businesses”.
