Lance I. Levine joined the firm in September, 2009 as a member of the Real Estate Practice Group.
Mr. Levine has a diversified real estate practice with particular expertise in the area of real estate finance. He has represented mortgage lenders, mezzanine lenders, and real estate developers in hundreds of debt and equity transactions, including numerous large scale construction projects. He also has extensive experience advising lenders with respect to the acquisition of mortgage loans, “B-pieces”, mezzanine loans and loan portfolios.
Recently, Mr. Levine has been advising commercial lenders and borrowers with respect to workouts and restructurings of distressed debt.
Prior to joining the firm Mr. Levine practiced law at several prominent law firms in New York, the most recent being Cozen O’Connor and Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP.
Mr. Levine earned his Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees, magna cum laude, from The University of Pennsylvania in 1991 and his law degree from Columbia Law School in 1994, where he was a Stone scholar and an editor of the Columbia Business Law Review.
In addition to his commercial real estate practice, Mr. Levine serves as outside counsel to Community Capital Resources, a non-profit that makes loans to minority owned businesses. Mr. Levine also serves on the board of directors of Columbia/Barnard Hillel.
Mr. Levine is licensed to practice law in New York.
